Today wasn't much of a build day -- just a few odds and ends that I wrapped up as well as some house cleaning (literally). First, I had to prep the stuff that I'm going to do tomorrow. I have need of a few 3/4 inch holes, which I have to do at school. I have the drill bit, but my drill chuck is only 3/8, and the bits have a half inch shank, so that's a no go. I cut a sheet of Lexan into these six oddly-shaped scraps. These will get drilled and then shaped into wheels for my drive axle. I also marked that scrap of steel at the very bottom of the screen -- that will be a little bracket to hold the drive wheels onto the axle.
Now comes the house cleaning part. Over the past weeks of work, the heap of parts that can be seen in my parts section got picked over and spread out all over the room. As I dug through the pile looking for parts it just kind of took over the room. You can see some of it here...
... and here ...
... and here. All in all, it's getting much too hard to find what I want when I want it. That and I'm tired of walking around in all this crap to find a socket. It's time to get organized again.
It took some work, and there wasn't much in the way of interesting pictures to be taken in the middle, but here's the result. I've got all the parts consolidated into a fairly compact area. All the tools are laid out on the table, where they'll be much easier to get to.
As long as I had a clear table, I thought I'd do a little more glue work on the VIA enclosure. Here, I've added the exhaust diffuser to the top of the box. This will get the air that comes out of the blower into the flexible tubing portion of the heat exchanger.
I used the remaining epoxy from this packet to patch a few little gaps that I was able to find. Now I just need to do one more gluing (to smooth out the gasket surface on the top panel), drill the bolt holes, make the gasket, seal the wiring, and mount this thing. It was supposed to be done quite a while ago, but I never took into account the time it takes for epoxy to cure.
